Gaza: Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in a series of intense Israeli bombardments across the Gaza Strip, with strikes hitting hospitals, refugee camps, and densely populated civilian areas. The attacks have escalated fears of an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe, as United Nations officials condemn what they describe as the use of starvation as a weapon of war.
According to Reports, Israeli airstrikes targeted key locations including Gaza City’s Al-Awda Hospital and parts of the Jabalia and Nuseirat refugee camps. Witnesses report entire buildings reduced to rubble, and videos show missiles hitting medical facilities that were still housing patients and displaced civilians.
UN aid chief Tom Fletcher accused Israel of deliberately obstructing humanitarian aid, saying, "Starvation is being used as a weapon—by design." Fletcher emphasized that Israeli forces are blocking food convoys, shutting down entry points, and attacking roads critical for aid delivery. The UN’s World Food Programme and other humanitarian agencies have also warned that the risk of famine in Gaza is accelerating, especially in the north, where access has been effectively cut off for weeks.
Israel maintains that its military operations are targeting Hamas infrastructure and leadership. However, growing numbers of civilian deaths and the destruction of medical facilities have drawn fierce international criticism. Human rights organizations argue that the actions may constitute violations of international law, including the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit targeting hospitals and collective punishment.
This latest escalation comes amid failed ceasefire negotiations and mounting global protests demanding an end to the war. The conflict, which reignited in late 2023, has already displaced over 1.9 million people—more than 80% of Gaza’s population—leaving many without access to food, water, or shelter.
As global powers deliberate, the reality on the ground continues to worsen. With hospitals collapsing under the weight of wounded civilians and aid trucks stuck at closed borders, Gaza teeters on the brink of an even deeper humanitarian disaster.
